A few helpful answers

Do we need to book?

Casual Scratch Patch visits do not require booking. For regular mine visits, come during the weekend or public holiday tour hours above. Please arrange parties, school excursions and organised group visits in advance.

Is Mapatiza a working mine?

No. It is a replica mine designed to introduce visitors to the gemstone mining experience.

Can we bring food and drinks?

For ordinary day visits, please use the on-site coffee shop rather than bringing outside food and drinks. Catering arrangements for private parties should be agreed with the team when booking.

What should we bring?

Wear comfortable shoes for exploring. A light jacket can be useful in the mine. Please supervise young children around small gemstones and ask us about accessibility or any specific needs before your visit.
